There's never a dull moment at Oishi-m, and no two days are ever the same! On this warm day in February, we arrived at work to be greeted with news that we'd soon be on camera, filming for a special feature showcasing Torquay within Regional Victoria's "Ready When You Are" campaign. One of a number of local businesses to be featured, we happily (if not a bit nervously) welcomed the film crew into our world to show what makes our small business successful both locally, across Australia and even overseas with international shipping.
The filming took in every aspect of our business, capturing behind the scenes snapshots of our workspace, design fittings, packing web orders, love note writing, an impromptu fashion parade in the shop, customer interaction and an interview with business owner, Miyo.
Like mother like son, striking the same 'peaceful' pose ;) But seriously, our bag of toys is so helpful to keep munchkins occupied while you shop at Oishi-m (and we usually end up playing with the kids while our customers browse too)...
For the most part, Howie was blissfully unaware of the camera crew - totally immersed in play.
If you've been to our store in the Torquay arcade before, you'd know that it gets pretty squishy with a few visitors inside! Try adding a team of 6 stills photography and video guys to the mix, and let's just call it... intimate! haha! We decided after all our time in front of the camera, it was time to turn the spotlight back onto them for a change!
"Just act natural" - Our turn to play director, while looking down the barrel ;)
Meet Alva and Alvin - our sz 12-24mth and 4-5yrs body forms! They are the most compliant of all our kids, patiently being changed into outfit after outfit everyday for fit testing, measurements and tweaks ;) Here, our designer was double-checking the measurements of our signature Tummy Toastie waistband and rollable cuffs on Alvin's Rusty Harem Pants. Alva's outfit meausred to 'spec' (design-y word for specifications!), and we're loving the AU17 Ringarosy Sweater Dress.
All smiles! Welcome to Miyo's colourful office, where she was Interviewed amongst the makings of a collection. The film crew asked us to smile and look happy (not a problem for us giggly girls), but then it got to a point when he asked us to back off on laughing too much, which just cracked us up even more!
