Rainbows for days, in fact days, nights, weeks and months! We are massive fans of wearable art that lifts spirits and tells vibrant happy stories. We always go for colour and good vibes, as we live every day to the max with childlike fervour and wonder.
Welcome behind the scenes where our racks are exploding with colour, our design team turns dreams and visions into rad clothes to wear, and there's never a wrong way to wear the right clothes. Feel the freedom to create your own mix n' match versatile wardrobe from a huge variety of prints, textures, yardages and solid colours, and unleash your own creativity with Oishi-m garments.
We're all over the details, right down to the layout of flatlay pics that precisely represent the actual colours of our beautiful garments. We utilise a 'Colour Checker' for photoshoots, so we can quickly and easily capture accurate colour to show you our products online. Above, our Margarita Midi Skirt, Surprise Me SS Splice T Shirt and Pot of Gold T Shirt get prepared so they're best represented on the website.
'Outfitter' shots are flatlays that we publish for our social media pages, and they allow us to mix n' match with other brands we carry, like this incredible Grimms wooden rainbow - the perfect complement to summer living in every munchkin's nursery or bedroom.
What's not to love about this whole scene? Oishi-m is such a unique and iconic Australian children's brand, and we love finding photoshoot locations that evoke a sense of adventure, play, joy and enthusiasm that complements how we feel. We always love supporting local, innovative, passionate businesses and McGain's Nursery has been a favourite hang of ours for ages - we couldn't wait to get our own quirky limited edition garments into their space! Aussie grown produce meets Aussie made kids fashion, Azure Sky Hoodie.
This season we've introduced a brand new shape to the mix, a flouncy dress with inverted pleats, gathered peplum sleeves and elasticated neck. Whenever we decide to introduce a new silhouette it takes many steps to get it perfect for launch date. Initial sketches are drawn, patternmaker makes a proto sample, and size sets (3-6mths to 7-8yrs) are created.
We sample it in a few fabric types and check that it drapes well and fits beautifully on a range of children. Our little visitor popped in to work this day with mum, and got to try on the Dance With Me Flouncy Dress - perfect for everyday magic moments and funny-face-pulling :) We can't wait to see this style on the streets, don't forget to tag #oishim on our Instagram page.
All the freshness of greenery props (from around our office) to complement the natural elements in our clothing prints. This season was all about sourcing fabrics that spoke of summer, like the brilliant crane flowers in the Bird Of Paradise SS T Shirt.
We also found this amazing 'monstera deliciosa' leaf fabric for the Uninhabited Short, in shades of blue, taupe, iron and stone. Also known as the swiss cheese or fruit salad plant, they are unique shade-loving plants, with leaves that are just as glossy as your lil' munchkin! Above left also features our Beachcomber Harem Pant; the legs are made from cotton oxford and have a tonal leaf print that evokes a jungle scene at twilight.
Mmmmm... fresh is best! We couldn't resist doing some shopping whilst at our photoshoot in Anglesea, at the famed McGain's Nursery. Selling all manner of produce, we think it's better than a lolly shop :) So much so that we brought some delicious vegies back to the shop for a flatlay photography session with our Sonic SS Splice T Shirt and Piles of Tiles Short. (The kale and turnips doubled as ingredients for that night's meal too!)
We find inspiration everywhere, foods are not only delicious, but bright and appealing when translated to a colour palette on clothing.
We hope you've enjoyed this instalment of the making of an Oishi-m range. So much goes into the creation of the clothing, the campaign and the imagery, so we can share it with you in it's best light. We are so excited to have this new collection in our shop in Torquay Village so come in and see us in our new digs or pop online to welcome the Summer '18 range into your world.
