Wow! What a massive response we've had to our Winter Break '17 release! Thanks to all our customers who have supported the new collection, and especially to those that have shared pics on our Instagram and Facebook pages. Some of our fave moments are when customers bring their lil' munchkins back to visit, all dressed up in their new outfits or excited to show us their interpretation of 'new with old' Oishi-m pieces.
We also love sharing the 'making of' our collections with you... We released three totally new styles this season, including the denim Pinafore, Slouchy Pants and the biggest surprise of the season; Women's Leggings! Specialist machinists make most of our garments in Melbourne, including our Leggings. In the main photo above, you can see the pile of bulk garments that were made locally, ready for release in our Winter Break '17 range; Clear Directions Legging and Women's Arrow Mama Legging. This was our first ever time making a women's garment, which was a special treat for Mother's Day! For those of you who managed to score a pair, we hope you're loving wearing them and maybe dressing to match your 'mini-me'.

Our newest shape was launched last week - a comfy slouchy new take on track pants with drop crotch and narrowing leg, contrast side panels and pocket detail. Slouchy Pants feature our famous Tummy Toastie and boast easy access for little one's who can dress themselves, or for quick nappy changes for littler bubs.
The Tee Pee Slouchy Pant artwork was created in-house by our designer, who referenced ancient woodblock prints from traditional Japanese inspo. This pic shows you the evolution, R-L, of some fabric inspo, the tech drawing on screen, and the finished product in a made up garment. The result was our own modern hand designed take on that style of art, which when spaced apart reminded us of teepee's, hence the product name itself. We try to name our garments using descriptive wording that personifies each piece. It not only sounds nice phonetically, but actually helps us pick your web orders off our warehouse shelves when the name is reflective of the yardage or colourway.
Monochrome matchy matchy! Sometimes our own clothing almost matches the kids garments - on this occasion, our colleague was almost getting lost amidst the boxes of With The Band Super Skinny Jean whilst doing Quality Control testing. Geo prints are one of our faves, and this particular linen fabric has contrast inky geo printed pocket details that work so well with the black stretch denim. We use the best Turkish denim, which is hardwearing and has the right stretch content for playful active children to wear this garment in comfort.
Fit testing happens constantly throughout the process of designing each range, especially when we are preparing to introduce a brand new silhouette to our collection of funky, unique garments. On occasion, our little one's pop into work with their mums to try on newbies and the production team takes measurements 'on the body' across our entire size range.
We were excited to reveal the details of our exciting new Sunday Stroll Pinafore Dress this release. Designed and Made in Australia, this piece combines hardwearing stretch indigo denim with stunning Asian-inspired linen cotton floral in the godet panels at the back (that's just a fancy name for peekaboo pleat panels). The front features a bib with button closures, and we made sure that there's plenty of coverage in the chest area, so that even if kids dress themselves with no top underneath, there's still enough coverage. We know how much children of this age range love pockets for storing treasures, and the fit is lovely and snug thanks to an elasticised back waistband.
