Wow, what a spectacular photoshoot we had for Oishi-m Autumn 17 at glorious Point Addis beach recently. This location did not disappoint us - relatively hidden away between Torquay and Anglesea it's a favourite spot for locals seeking solitude in winter, and less beachgoers in summer...
The shoreline features wide sandy beaches and to the east is the world famous surfing venue of Bells Beach. The park features spectacular scenery with crumbling limestone and sandstone cliffs, rocky platforms and copious small rocky reefs. The coastline is exposed to intense wave action from the southern ocean, a major contributor to the shaping of this rugged coastline.
Hands up if you're ready for action?!
99% of the time we leave the kids to their own devices, leaving the kids to play free range so we can get really natural un-directed shots for the campaign. On occasion we end up in the shots whilst directing kids! Tinker Hoodie and Meadow Track Pant looking down the barrel.
Don't worry, it's not like WE did the kids' homework, haha! The drippy castle was definitely 'munchkin-made', with the help of some teenage friends.
The little ones always look up to the bigger kids on the photoshoot, with stars in their eyes and butterflies in their hearts.
It wasn't easy getting the crew down to the bottom of the stairs, with the littlies like Lagoon Hoodie choosing to 'bum shuffle' safely down instead of walking. It took aaaaagggges, but made for great photos!!!!
Mirror mirror on the sand, who is the fairest on the land?
Our munchkins enjoyed exploring the marine environment within the park, exploring the limestone reefs with abundant rockpools filled with marine life. They eagerly searched the waters for fish and crabs, as well as straining their eyes in the hope of seeing seals or dolphins. Offshore, lines of swell hit Ingoldsby Reef, inspiring these kids to one day be adventurous enough to surf beyond the shoreline of this epic coast.
Eyeing off perfect little peelers - the kids were straining to get amongst the 'grommy waves'. Pt Addis is an ideal beginner's wave...
Digging for treasures and dinosaur bones; imaginations were at their peak.
We employed some 'big boys' (a colleague's sons) to come and help the little kids make 'drippy castles' on the beach. It was the most attentive moment of the whole morning, here's Tumble L/S T Shirt and Ringarosy Sweater getting their hands dirty!
Nature at it's best, all the beachcomber accessories you need are at hand to decorate drippy castles to your heart's content..
Doesn't matter how old they get, if we do a shoot at the beach they always ends up drenched!
The kids end up looking like battered sav's :) ... (Bags NOT doing the washing!)
Weeeeeee, this lil' poppet couldn't be happier!!!
Since the advent of bigger sizes up to size 7-8yrs, it's awesome to dress our older munchkins in Oishi-m again! It wasn't long ago that these kids were the bubs, and now it feels like we blinked and they're almost tweenagers!
Our massive entourage, job done!
That's a wrap! Master behind the lens, our photographer, Ed Sloane, taking fab snaps.. while we snapchat him...
Thanks for coming Behind The Scenes to see more of our AU17 shoot, we hope you get a real sense of what goes into the making of the collection and the kid-wrangling to get the shots for our website :)
