Visiting Oishi-m in Torquay? Here's some great local places to visit with the kids, from locations we've visited for Oishi-m photoshoots across Geelong and the Surf Coast.
Anglesea 'Shark Park' (above) is near the mouth of the Anglesea River, just 15 mins from Torquay. There's a feast of play options here, including a giant swing and handcarved oceanic sculptures like a giant octopus and this incredible shark!
We are huge fans of Barwon Heads, the beautiful village by the sea. You will love this location at the Riverside Park, not only for it's creative, imaginative play space, but for the freedom kids feel exploring the historic bluestone breakwalls and the bridge where the Barwon River meets the ocean.
Wave to passing traffic, boats that is ;) Breathe in the fresh seaside air, watch how the tidal flats transform on a changing tide, and let the munchkins run free. We hope you feel the real holiday vibes in this special place, made famous by TV show 'Sea Change'. Stay a while, get some fish n' chips and enjoy the atmosphere, or hire a Stand Up Paddleboard for some family fun on the water..
Ahoy there... be prepared to fall in love with the beautiful Anglesea River. With fresh clean air and glorious water views, this location is ideal for natural adventures along the boardwalk and a spot of handline fishing. Our munchkins had a great time exploring and testing the boundaries of the edge of the jetty, and we'd like to think you'll stop here too. Keep walking and you'll discover Coogorah Park, affectionately known as the "Pirate Park", where friends can play together on the pirate ship. The wetlands have windy bike tracks interlaced over the waterways creating tiny islands with bridge crossings primed for exploration.
Anglesea River boatsheds; you never know where you'll make a new friend. In this tender unscripted moment, time stood still between our 'talent' and a local salty angler.. meet the friendly locals along the banks of the famed Anglesea River. Don't forget to BYO fishing gear ;)
Experience one of Geelong's best kept secrets. One of our most memorable photoshoots was in the dappled afternoon light of Geelong's Botanical Gardens. We highly recommend you visit with your small army; your little friends will have a ball "free rangeing" as you snap gorgeous images of them. Collect fallen leaves and flowers, stimulate the senses with the colours and scents of the incredible plant collection and have fun in the all-abilities play space.
One of our most iconic shots from Oishi-m archives (circa Winter 2013), Cunningham Pier, Geelong, offers so much fun for families. Explore the gardens, playgrounds and expansive lawned areas of Steampacket Gardens, ride the lovingly restored Carousel, and meander along to Eastern Beach where there's more playgrounds and a ferris wheel. This is a great stop only 30mins from Oishi-m HQ, and great to stretch the legs before hitting the highway to Melbourne.
