"Let them eat the props!" called the boss. And eat they did! By the time this shoot was done, the register receipt was a mile long at local hotspot McGain's Nursery! With the freshest fruit and vegies on offer in the shop, and baskets to collect their faves while the camera's captured their antics, the kids were more excited than if they'd been let loose in a candy store. Juicy strawberries, delicious oranges, and basketful's of greens; most of it ended up in the meals of all the families involved in the Oishi-m Summer '18 photoshoot (albeit a little bruised or squished, haha)! We let 'em loose amongst the potted plants in a conservatory-like space with a vine-covered pergola. The little cherubs bustled around like butterflies in a meadow, playing with waterlillies in wine barrels, smelling the flowers, touching the leaves, tasting the flavours... And as the sun shone through the cafe blinds onto the crowns of our babes, who were thrilled to be eating pink marshmallows and slurping frothy bubbacino's, it felt like an outing with your best mates... Quiet Sundae Hoodie heads over to the pile of samples to get her next outfit. We love shooting different sizes on various kids to give our customers an insight into how the styles can fit the chubba bubbas and the skinny minis of differing ages and stages of development. Hi five, low five, there's nothing cuter than this lil' munchkin in our new Dance With Me Flouncy Dress sharing low five's with of the support crew! Hide n' seek - of course they used the props to hide behind! Always funny, always a blast, who'd have thought that kale and turnips could be so much fun?! Cumulus Pullover tries his best to camouflage himself, while Bird of Paradise SS T Shirt makes a run for it!
Our little garden gnomes burst into action in a place that was just as colourful as they are!
Spot the catapulted citrus! Nothing's safe in the hands of babes, haha! (it made a mean lemon tart later that day!). How good is the Pot of Gold Shortsleeve T Shirt in this scene!?
Sonic Shortsleeve Splice T Shirt gets all the choccy dust from the rim of his teacup. What do they say about working with kids and animals?! Doesn't matter who you are, or where you go, if there's kids involved life is messy!
Plan to stop at this café on your next trip down the coast; they’ve built a reputation for having the freshest and finest meals, with plates garnished with edible flowers and herbs from the nursery gardens. With an area set aside for young children with books and puzzles, it is very family-friendly, and the nursery has a fishpond and vegetable garden to walk around and explore.
Little miss wearing Ever After Shortsleeve T Shirt, ummm who knew licking a strawberry was a 'thing'?!
Sometimes situations arise that require a litle bit of help from the mums and dads 'on set'. What was going on here? Could it be the promise of a visit to his favourite park on the way home, or an extra dollop of ice cream after dinner tonight? We know toddlers all have their moments, you got this mama ;) Not all photoshoot locations are created equal ;) Wowzers, with fresh produce this good we all did our groceries before we left McGain's! The combination of indoor and outdoor areas and abundant greenery and plant life provided a unique setting for an equally unique Australian kids, babies and toddlers brand that also calls Victoria’s Surf Coast home.
In the week before we release the range to our customers, we hold a 'range release meeting' for our staff at Oishi-m HQ, so that everyone is familiar with all the styles, fabrics and fits. Sometimes that means you bring your kids to work that day. There's always a cupboard full of textas, pencils and goodies to play with when the little one's visit us. We are so fortunate to work in a flexible workplace that understands the needs of families and their timelines, even when little one's are in tow.
