Thanks for coming along to our massive Oishi-m Samples and Seconds event on the weekend!
Despite the snow season being underway and the air feeling like ice, some of our keenest were waiting in the queue from as early as 9pm the Friday night prior armed with camp chairs and sleeping bags dreaming of what sort of samples they might snaffle up when the doors opened.
We had customers visit from as far as Hobart, Adelaide, Sydney and all over Victoria for our sale in wintery cold conditions at Torquay College. For those that arrived prior to any Oishi-m staff, they were rewarded with a lovely hot drink from our friendly barista.
With a clapping reception from Team Oishi-m, our customers raced through the doors with Ikea bags searching for awesome samples and seconds. Our customers were grabbing armfuls of gear, before finding a quiet corner to sort through their stash and making it through our registers.
New friends were made, others got to have a good annual catch up through the wee hours of the night. Armed with piping hot Thermos's, Netflix episodes were shared, and catnaps were had in preparation for the break of day and a 9am opening time.
Front of the pack! First in line on day one of our sale was Mel from Point Cook, Amalia from Werribee, and Jenny and Holly from Ballarat. We salute you for braving the cold conditions and earning the pleasure of being our very first entrants into the hall of Oishi-m treasures! We hope you had the best time, and that's true commitment lining up the night before the doors opened!
The only thing missing was a campfire! This is our amazing extended community in sleeping bags and a uniform of puffer jackets, beanies and blankies... It was such a great opportunity to meet so many of our remarkable customers, hear how far they'd travelled, what they hoped to find, and what they were stoked to buy once they reached the cash registers... many people were even kind enough to shop for friends who couldn't make it to Torquay.
The lay of the land, with bags overflowing with goodies... We welcomed pregnant ladies, newborn babies (4 and 9 days old!) cradled in loving arms, shopping lists with ages and sizes to shop for, and throngs of customers who busily sifted through our sale tubs with boundless energy.
Rummaging through tempting tubs of bright and quirky Oishi-m delights - from shrugs to jeans, shorts to hoodies, dresses to leggings, and a whole lot of other categories, our special visitors were treated to never seen before products, and they're sure going to great new homes :)
Big decisions were made, with arms and bags full to the brim! The atmosphere was alive and good vibes were palpable, with speakers pumping out awesome tunes throughout the weekend. For those who asked what music we were playing, the playlist was 'Decade Mixes' by Flight Facilities that can be downloaded here.
We like to think we're a pretty perky bunch, but we needed some nourishment to sustain us through our busiest weekend of the year ;) Behind the scenes, food was provided by Platter Co by Jade, & superfood salads prepared by our foodie friends at The Daily Food Co - yummmmmo!! Thanks so much for the deliciousness ladies!!
In support of Plastic Bag Free Torquay, we encouraged visitors to bring their own bags (one lady even brought a washing basket). Our Gold coin donation for an Ikea Bag fundraiser managed to raise $30 for local legends Geelong Mums; such a worthy cause. A resounding success, we're still so excited by the whole experience and the good vibes that were shared between friends and community. Now to get back to school holidays with all our munchkins and start the preparations for our upcoming Spring release, due to hit in a few weeks...
Thanks for coming!!!
